What is TFA?

Technology-Facilitated Abuse

Technology-Facilitated Abuse (TFA) refers to the misuse of digital technologies to control, harass, monitor, threaten, exploit, or harm another person. It often occurs in situations of domestic violence, stalking, sexual exploitation, or harassment and can happen through phones, social media, GPS tracking, smart home devices, messaging apps, and other digital tools. Technology can make abuse more constant and harder to escape. Survivors may experience harm even when the abuser is not physically present because technology allows abusers to maintain control, surveillance, and harassment remotely.
